My Back Door

Who says a back door is a lesser entry? I love ours, it's private and picturesque. A double glass door backs onto a wrought iron fence and hedge and wildflowers cascade down the retaining wall; these are now covered in snow. The view from the Hallway is a painting that revolves with the season: I always turn on the outside light at night to enjoy it more. The photographs don't quite do it justice, so here's a closeup of what I just saw. All this snow just fell in one day. It promises to be quite a winter! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

Living Room Re-do

We just repainted our Living Room. It was not just a horrible, sloppy paint job (ours), it was also much too dark. I was amazed at how much this lighter color changed not just the appearance but the whole atmosphere of the room. Some of the decorations simply would not work as before. It was a wonderful and creative process (once I 'saw' it, a bit agonizing before). Providentially, I found the perfect use for a collection of dessert plates I was recently given (some of which are on the wall). I thought I'd never be able to use them because of their pink border. Well, they're per-fect. The illustration in the middle looks like Toile. Here is an evening snapshot of one corner of our lovely 'new' living room.
