Speaking of Value...

I know 'tis the season for Nativity stories but I sure didn't plan on seeing the beauty of motherhood as I have in the last few days (see the last two posts my parenting blog: insideoutlikeapocket@blogspot.com) so this 'coincidence' I am about to share with you is not lost on me.

It came up as part of this morning's message in Church:  I had not realized that it was through the lineage of Elizabeth, rather than Zechariah,  that John the Baptist came with both a Kingly and Priestly anointing. Bible buffs, if I got that wrong, please leave me a note. The woman, the  mother, exalted by God with a unique placement function. I see God's value in it.

She was of the tribe of Levi and, since she was cousin to Mary who was of the tribe of Judah, Elizabeth was also of the line of David the King who unified all of Israel for the first time, the man after God's own heart.

It may not seem like much in this world' eyes, but to God, every detail matters and it so happens I love details.  He chose a woman to cement the lineage of John the Baptist, the one whom He described as the greatest among men...
